Chaos Log 10: Nightmare and the Phoenix

The Morning After
One night, I turned off the laptop and went to bed feeling that rare sense of total satisfaction. I woke up the next day with renewed vigour, ready to dive back into the office—only to find that the machine wouldn't start.
Shock. Disappointment. Absolute frustration. In the life of an indie dev, your hardware is your lifeline. For a few moments, the silence of that dead screen felt deafening. (And yes, there was a massive wave of relief that every single line of code and audio file is always backed up!)

Four Days of Troubleshooting
What followed was a long four days of diagnostics and technical deep-dives. I owe a massive thank you to the technical department at PCSpecialist for their expert guidance in reviving the system.

It wasn't just a simple reboot. We had to perform a full system recovery, including:

  • A BIOS/UEFI Firmware Flash to resolve a critical boot-loop issue.

  • A Hard CMOS Clear and Static Power Discharge to reset the hardware handshakes.

  • A full maintenance cycle, including internal cleaning and a thermal check, to ensure peak performance.

Behold! The Phoenix has been reborn! The machine is running cooler and more stable than before, and the development environment is back online.

We haven't lost a step. The engines are humming, Ixion is currently holding short of Runway 03 at Cranfield, and we are ready to receive take-off clearance.

Stay put. The momentum is back, and more is coming soon.
