Chaos Log Entry 6 - The Human Element & The First Smell of Avgas
Life Calls, and We Answer
In my book, a month without an update is unacceptable. I pride myself on momentum, but sometimes life makes calls that simply cannot be ignored. Over the last few weeks, the "Dream Factory" had to take a backseat to some significant personal shifts and family priorities. I had to step back, recharge the batteries, and navigate some major life changes.
But don't fret. While the public updates were silent, the coding was not. Progress has been made—albeit at a different pace than I’d planned—and the vision for CodeMyDreams remains as sharp as ever.
Engines Started: The Checklist Milestone
I’ve spent the bulk of my "deep work" hours in the trenches of the Checklist Department. I am thrilled to report that a significant portion of the stationary, on-the-ground checklists is now complete.
Every switch, every gauge, and every procedure has been thoroughly researched and checked for maximum immersion and realism. I'm ensuring that every action the characters takes is anchored in real-world aviation standards before it is linked to the backend logic. Speaking of the backend, I’ve also pushed through several optimizations to ensure that the code running under the hood is as lean and efficient as possible.
Almost "Off its Wheels"
Dare I say it? The first mission is almost off its feet—or in our case, off its wheels.
We have reached that incredible, spine-tingling moment in development: The engines have been started. The logic is holding, the systems are humming, and we are standing on the threshold of that first, "oh-so-scary" call to ATC to ask for permission to taxi.
The transition from a static model to a living, breathing aircraft—complete with the metaphorical smell of Avgas—is happening right now.
What’s Next?
Significant forward motion is happening. The checklists are a massive hurdle, and being on the path of clearing them has opened up the path to the actual flight phases. I have more to share—much more—but I’ll save those details for the next posts.
For now, thank you for sticking with me through the silence. Life happens, but the dream doesn't stop.
Time to taxi.
